Boiler Drains

Features of Our Lead-Free Boiler Drain Valves

Our lead-free boiler drain valves are built from forged brass for use in potable water systems. The 696 Series, one of our most popular options, is rated at 150 WOG and features a 3/4" hose thread outlet with a MIP inlet at 45 degrees. The hose thread end complies with ANSI B1.20.7, and the threaded end meets ANSI B1.20.1 standards.

We also carry the 695 Series Brass Press Boiler Drain, available in 1/2" and 3/4" sizes with a pressure rating of 125 PSI (non-shock) and a temperature rating of 180°F. For installations that require a 90-degree configuration, our 697 Series (FIP x MHT) and 698 Series (MIP x MHT) provide additional flexibility in tight spaces or specific piping layouts.

All of our lead-free brass products are backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty, and we offer same-day shipping on 99% of orders placed through our Florida-based facility.

Selecting the Right Lead-Free Boiler Drain Valve

Start by identifying the connection type your system requires. Our lead-free boiler drain valves are available in both MIP (male iron pipe) and FIP (female iron pipe) configurations. The 696 and 698 Series use MIP inlets, while the 697 Series uses an FIP inlet. Confirming the thread type at your drain point will determine which series fits your application.

Next, consider the valve orientation. Our straight-pattern boiler drains, like the 696 Series, work well where space allows for a direct hose connection. If your installation requires a 90-degree turn due to clearance limitations or wall proximity, the 697 or 698 Series is the better choice. For press-connect systems, the 695 Series eliminates the need for threading entirely.

Pressure and temperature ratings vary by series, so review the specs on our boiler drains page to confirm compatibility with your system. A lead-free brass boiler drain valve is required by code for any application where the valve contacts potable water. If you need help matching a valve to your project, call us at (888) 877-6825 or submit a request through our contact page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Federal law under the Safe Drinking Water Act requires that any valve or fitting installed in a system that conveys water for human consumption meet lead-free standards. This applies to water heater drain connections, supply line valves, and any other point where the valve contacts drinking water. Using a non-compliant valve in a potable water application is a code violation in all 50 states.

We offer multiple connection configurations across four product series. The 696 and 698 Series feature MIP (male iron pipe) inlets, while the 697 Series uses an FIP (female iron pipe) inlet. All three include a male hose thread (MHT) outlet for standard garden hose attachment. The 695 Series uses a press-connect inlet for solderless installation.

A boiler drain valve is designed to be installed at a low point on a tank or piping system for the purpose of draining fluid. It typically features a compact body with an inlet pipe thread and a hose thread outlet. A hose bibb is mounted on the exterior of a building and is intended for outdoor water supply access. While both accept a hose connection, their mounting positions and intended uses are different.
